It was interesting trying to compile this list, because it wasn't so long ago that we compiled lists of the best games of the last generation. I look at my top five list from that feature, and I see a game that wouldn't make this list – Final Fantasy X. It's not that Final Fantasy X wasn't a vanguard game – that's why it made my list then. It was a title that set the pacing for a great deal of the JRPGs that have come since. This list, however, is a list of my favorites. The games that I would play again (if I haven't already played them more than once). That's why it includes a game in a language I don't understand (Front Mission 5 was just that good), a game from a console long dead (please bring Chrono Cross to PSN so that I can play it on the PSP), and a PC game that I first played when I was sixteen. These games are the best, in my mind, because of their fun factor and because of nostalgia. These are the games that I look at from the past decade and say, "Yeah, that's what it was about." Hope you enjoy them.
