Lando is on the cusp of Captain Mallow's Trial in the Lush Jungle, but he decides that he needs a little diversion. Akala Island has been such a source of consternation so far that Lando needs to step away from it for a spell. It has even gotten to the point where Lando's nicknames for newly acquired pokémon are becoming less and less creative. Seriously, Carpie D.M. and Lady Bugg? Lando, buddy, you can do better than that!
Now that Lando has a Lapras PokéRide to traverse water and a Charizard PokéRide to fly anywhere, Lando decides to fly some of his new pals back home to Melemele Island to try and recruit pokémon at Kala'e Bay and Melemele Sea since he also has a fishing rod too. Okay, and maybe say hi to Mom and Meowth too.
After exploring all over Kala'e Bay, Lando encounters a Bagon in a grass patch! With some difficult coercion, this rash female with Rock Head is recruited. Lando names her Yo Adrian! because she's the "rock head" pokémon and he recalls a MAD Magazine parody of Rocky entitled "Rockhead" that he found funny. Lando also decides to recruit at Melemele Sea near his house. Since he's in the area, Lando decides to visit Mom and Meowth. She comments that her boy looks tired but happy. But we know the truth. Lando's playful grin hides a wealth of heartache. Anyway, he quickly recruits a mild female Finneon with Swift Swim and names her AquaSpectrum because she's a bioluminescent fish.
With Yo Adrian! and AquaSpectrum recruited, Lando feels like he has his groove back with creative naming, so it's off the Akala Island's Name Rater to improve upon Carpie D.M.'s and Lady Bugg's nicknames. Lady Bugg is renamed Natasha after Marvel Comics' Black Widow and Carpie D.M. is renamed Lisbeth Sala, a take on Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, because Lando's Magikarp is a girl he's determined to evolve into a glorious dragon.

I get that this was more of a "breather" chapter in Lando's saga, but sometimes you need those little palate cleansers. In the next chapter, Lando will take on Captain Mallow's Trial in the Lush Jungle with newfound vigor after this much-needed diversion.
