One could fill a book with the amount of spin-off titles, merchandise, and music that exists outside of the main Final Fantasy games. We don't have a printing press, but still wanted to celebrate some of the series' key side stories.
With Final Fantasy, there's more spin-off titles, and full spin-off series than even Happy Days, but instead of an overwhelming list, we wanted to look at some of the more notable collections of games outside of the mainline stuff. That means talking about Dissidia, the sorta-fighting game series that started on the PSP and is finally making its console debut this month.
It means looking at Theatrhythm, which suddenly contains four games (not to mention Theatrhythm Dragon Quest, and hopefully one day, Theatrhythm Kingdom Hearts), most of them portable, but also that intriguing arcade release.
We don't know if World of Final Fantasy is going to greatly expand, but it already has its own semi-spin-off, so it's looking likely.
And finally, no discussion of Final Fantasy side games and properties can be had without talking about the Compilation of Final Fantasy.
Again, this mini-series of articles is by no means exhaustive, but if we're celebrating Square Enix's beloved series, they deserved a shout out. Check out each article below:
