Critical darling farming and life simulator Stardew Valley has, after its initial release on PC, received a bevy of improvements over its lifetime, including simultaneous multiplayer, console ports and more. It seems creator Eric Barone has no plans on stopping, with the latest update, known as Content Update 1.4, set to release on PC systems on November 26th, implementing hotfixes and quality of life improvements galore!

Barone stated that Update 1.4 is essentially about the idea of improvement, to "...finally "polish" the game to the degree that I've always wanted." He further stated that his aim was to "fix all the bugs that have been lingering in the game, to fix a lot of weird or annoying things about the controls and feel of the game, and to add in a lot of "quality of life" features..." to make Stardew Valley easier for players to play and enjoy.

In terms of content, Update 1.4 will have players gain greater depth, expansion, and improvement to nearly all the mechanics and content within the game itself. Barone stated the Wild Fish bait as an example, citing that it has been improved to give players a chance to catch double fish. Players involved in the relationships within the Valley itself will have new content, in the form of an extra scene unlocked after marriage and a 14 hearts bond with their chosen spouse, once the update is released. Other content improvements were hinted at by Barone, focused on the end-game of Stardew Valley, but players will have to wait until Update 1.4 releases to venture and seek the answers to those mysteries!

A console release date for Update 1.4 was not specified, but Barone has stated a goal of simultaneous updating for both the console and mobile versions a few weeks after the PC release, after further testing.

As it stands, Stardew Valley continues to bring new reasons to return to farming, the sun, and the seasons. If you're curious about what RPGFan thinks of Stardew Valley, check out our review, penned by RPGFan alumni Jesse Woo.
