Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the latest installment of Coming This Week! It's getting cold outside, which means I'm looking for more excuses to stay indoors with some video games and my new cat. RPG fans are pretty spoiled for choice this time around, with a healthy selection of WRPGs, JRPGs, re-releases and new IPs alike. Pour out a glass of your favorite hot drink, and let's jump right in.

Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Editions - October 15 (PS4, XB1, Switch)

Ever wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons, but you were a little put off by needing to include others? Well, Beamdog Entertainment has you covered. Kidding aside, the classic isometric computer RPGs of yore are making their way to modern consoles this week. Both Baldur's Gate titles and Planescape: Torment are considered by some to be some of the greatest role-playing games ever made, and if you've somehow missed the boat on them, this is a great opportunity to give them a go. Just, ah, try not to get mazed, all right?

The Eyes of Ara

The Eyes of Ara - October 15 (Switch)

In the beginning, God created Myst, and He saw that it was... a tedious and aggravating mess. Okay, okay, put the pitchforks down, I'm joking. Myst and its ilk helped popularize these kinds of atmospheric, story-driven puzzle adventure games. If you're a fan of them, then The Eyes of Ara is definitely worth a look. Rob Rogan has the goods in his review if you'd like to know more.

Disco Elysium Screenshot

Disco Elysium - October 15 (Windows)

We've had our eyes on Disco Elysium even before our own Robert Fenner was introduced it at EGX 2018 Rezzed and initially described it as "unique, uncomfortable, and bizarrely alluring." An open-world RPG with a wide selection of options in how to progress, dialogue and customization choices, and a ton of skills, Disco Elysium looks set to deliver a fascinating detective tale that could potentially vary wildly depending on your own choices. As developer ZA/UM puts it, your choices could see your detective "become a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being." The choice is yours!

Children of Morta Screenshot

Children of Morta - October 15 (PS4, XB1)

Following a successful launch on PC wherein the title made back its development costs, action RPG Children of Morta is making its first foray onto home consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One versions are due out this week, on the 15th, with the Nintendo Switch version having been delayed until November. Keep an eye out for more Children of Morta content from RPGFan!

The Witcher 3 Screenshot

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition - October 15 (Switch)

Hail, Witcher! One of this generation's most beloved RPG properties is headed to the Nintendo Switch. What sorcery it took for CD Projekt Red's team of wizards to jam this massive open-world adventure onto a tiny Switch cartridge, the world may never know. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch includes all of the game's content, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions, so a whole new swath of gamers can travel alongside Geralt of Rivia on his journey. Be sure to read our review of the original release, too.

Grandia HD Screenshot

Grandia HD - October 15 (Windows)

Recently, the original Grandia made a triumphant return bundled with its sequel on the Switch. Said sequel has been available on PC for a while, so the question was: when would the first game make the transition? The answer is this Tuesday, as it happens. Grandia HD features a fresh coat of paint on a beloved adventure, along with a few bells and whistles. For more information, be sure to read our review.

Little Town Hero Screenshot

Little Town Hero - October 16 (Switch)

Hey, a new Game Freak IP! The house that Pokémon built is here with a brand new title, where players will need to defend their town from invading monsters. The game will be available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop this Wednesday. Watch this space for more coverage of Little Town Hero! This time, the adventure comes to you!

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Nintendo Switch Screenshot

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition - October 18 (Windows, Switch)

If you're like me and you missed out on the Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth games (especially after the first game got pulled from the PlayStation Network), then you're in luck! Both Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory are headed to the Switch as a dual pack, bringing the complete Digimon mystery to Nintendo's handheld. We've reviewed both games upon their original release, so be sure to read John Tucker's take on the original and Alana Hagues' take on the sequel!

Return Of The Obra Dinn Nintendo Switch Screenshot

Return of the Obra Dinn - October 18 (PS4, XB1, Switch)

Finally, we have one of last year's best games. Return of the Obra Dinn, the newest title from Papers, Please's Lucas Pope, is a phenomenal award-winning adventure game that tasks players with unraveling the mysteries of the titular ship. Its visual style is immediately striking, with black and white hues casting its world into sharp relief. For more information, head on over to our review from the indelible Bob Richardson.

...and that'll about do it for this week! Stay cool (or warm!), RPG fans, and I'll see you next time!

Updated 10/15/19: In our initial post of this article, we mistakenly left out Disco Elysium (it's almost like there's too many RPGs to keep track of some weeks!). We've since added it, and apologize for the oversight. Thank you to @misteroms on Twitter for the reminder!
