A now-removed Rocket Beans TV schedule posted just ahead of Gamescom seems to indicate that a western release announcement for the PlayStation 4 version of Yakuza 3 might be coming soon.

Kiryu delivers a swift beatdown on the streets of Kamurocho in the PlayStation 4 remaster of Yakuza 3.

The upgraded remaster first released in Japan on August 9th, 2018, and boasted crisp 1080p visuals and smooth 60 frames per second gameplay which abates much of the blurriness found in the PlayStation 3 version, though it admittedly pales in comparison to the gorgeous overhauls seen in Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2.

First released in 2010, the Western version of Yakuza 3 featured several omissions including a Japanese history trivia game and hostess club modes, which were cut due to a shortened localization timeframe. With any luck, the Western release of the PlayStation 4 version could remedy these shortcomings, making the Yakuza 3 remaster the definitive way to enjoy the title.

Stay tuned to RPGFan for more from Gamescom, and all things Yakuza!
