According to a recent filing with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, Nintendo may be making an SNES-styled controller for the Nintendo Switch. The images shown in the filing, which were unearthed by a user on popular forum Resetera, certainly bears an uncanny resemblance to the iconic SNES controller, and adds further credence to the idea that Nintendo may soon be adding Super Nintendo games to their Switch Online platform.

Super Nintendo Switch Controller

Of course, this is all speculation at this point: still, the idea is tantalizing. Nintendo already offers NES-styled controllers for the Nintendo Switch to better suit the NES games available on their online service, and given the popularity of some of these titles, one would imagine it would bring a wider audience to Switch Online. Additionally, one observant fan discovered evidence for SNES titles coming to the Switch all the way back in January.

Given the number of high-profile RPGs on the SNES, have no doubt that RPGFan will provide more details as they become available. Stay tuned!
