Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have released a new trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield, the upcoming eight generation titles in the Pokémon series. This latest update includes info on the new evil Team, the rivals players will face, Galarian regional variants, and more. Check it out below!

First up, and most exciting in my humble opinion, is the inclusion of Galarian Forms. After Alolan forms wound up being one of the best parts of Pokémon Sun and Moon, it's nice seeing regional variants making a comeback. Revealed in this trailer were Galarian Weezing and Galarian Zigzagoon/Linoone. Galarian Weezing becomes a Poison/Fairy type, while the Zigzagoon line becomes Dark/Normal and adds a brand-new evolution to the family: Obstagoon. That's right, some Galarian Pokémon will receive brand-new evolutions in Pokémon Sword and Shield!

Another new Pokémon that was revealed is Morpeko, a hamster like critter that's Electric/Dark-type... with a twist. When Morpeko is in Full Belly Mode, its demeanor is pleasant and it is an Electric-type Pokémon. However, should it become hungry, it will switch to Hangry mode and become Dark-type.

Two new Rival characters were also introduced. The first is Bede, a skilled and proud trainer who received an endorsement from Chairman Rose. He wants to become Champion, but seems to have another agenda as well. There's also Marnie, a trainer who aims to become Champion to accomplish a goal of her own. Marnie has a... passionate fanbase called Team Yell, a group of troublemakers who will stop at nothing to make Marnie the Champion. Wait, did Game Freak put the National Dex people into the game? Nice.

Lastly, an interesting new feature is being added to Pokémon Sword and Shield. Poké Jobs allow players to hire out their Pokémon to do part-time work for the citizens of Galar, a common practice in the region as people and Pokémon often work together. Certain Pokémon are better suited to different jobs, and performing them will net them an experience boost. Players can select which Pokémon to send on jobs and the duration of their shift: just go to the nearest Pokémon Center and speak to the Rotomi found there. Rotomi also allows players to check their Boxes and try their hand at a lottery.
