Build me up, buttercup!
07.08.19 - 9:16 PM

Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the latest installment of Coming This Week! The good news is that I survived the humidity, a feat which I can only attribute to the brave heroes that assisted me in my hour of need. But now I'm faced with another problem: my apartment has been totally trashed by a horde of curiously adorable slimy creatures. But don't let my misfortune get you down. There are games to discuss.

SolSeraph - July 10th (PS4, XB1, Switch, Windows)

ActRaiser is one of those beloved classics that had such a great core premise — mixing god game macro-management with 2D side-scrolling action — it's a wonder that nobody ever thought to iterate on it (there was an official sequel, but... the less said about that, the better). Recently, SEGA announced a spiritual successor of sorts, titled SolSeraph, and also announced that the game would be out really soon! Players will be able to assume the role of the deity Helios this Wednesday.

If you yearn for the bygone days when Secret of Monkey Island was the king of the point-and-click genre, then you might want to check out Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet. Originally released for the PC way back in 2006, this pirate-themed adventure will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on Thursday. We have a review by the illustrious Alana Hagues if you'd like to know more.

The original Dragon Quest Builders was a pleasant surprise, mixing the delights of Dragon Quest with the ubiquitous experience of Minecraft. It worked like a charm, and now we have a sequel due this Friday. Dragon Quest Builders 2 will bring more construction and crafting action to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 12th. You can be sure we'll have more content on this game for you in the near future. In the meantime, please see the review of the first game by long-time staffer Rob Steinman, and our E3 preview of the sequel by Mike Salbato.

Hey, man! Do you like Monster Hunter? Do you like the Nintendo Switch? Have you hunted every monster in Generations Ultimate to the point of near-extinction, creating the need for a new game to quench your insatiable bloodlust? Well, you're in luck, because God Eater 3 is going to be hitting the Switch on Friday, bringing with it all of the Aragami-slaying action that PC and PlayStation 4 players got to experience earlier this year. For more info, be sure to read the lovely Audra Bowling's review.

And that is a wrap for this week, folks! Sorry for the abrupt conclusion, but those confounded Slimes broke a perfectly cube-shaped hole in my roof, so I have to go find some materials to fix it before the thunderstorms hit. See you all next time.
