Visual novel fans rejoice, as PQube and developer Kadokawa Games have announced that Root Letter: Last Answer will be releasing sometime later this year on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Check out the announcement trailer below!

This version of Root Letter: Last Answer will sport a few notable enhancements, namely gameplay improvements, a new epilogue, and, impressively, a complete live-action mode, turning the anime aesthetic of the original into something akin to Shibuya Scramble, another luminary in the visual novel genre.

The story of Root Letter: Last Answer follows an unnamed protagonist as they follow the footsteps of Aya Fumino, a school-time pen pal that, after a final letter confessing murder, has seemingly disappeared from reality. As the protagonist, players will interview the friends of Aya and travel around the Shimane prefecture, within Japan, looking to solve this long-standing mystery for good and for closure.

No specific release date has been given.
