Does the Majima construction song count as an anthem?
02.18.19 - 10:05 PM

Hello, all, and welcome to another edition of Coming This Week! It's difficult to believe that February is more than half gone, but the notable new releases are not slowing down. There's something for everyone this time around — whether you favor high-profile or more independent titles — from Yakuza roaming Kamurocho to aerial battles in exosuits through lush natural landscapes. There are a lot of settings and game styles to cover, so let's get going.

Yakuza Kiwami - February 19th (PC)

Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima are bringing the over-the-top Yakuza lifestyle to PC this Tuesday with the release of Yakuza Kiwami. Kiwami serves as an entry point into the series, as it's a redone/enhanced version of the very first title. The official site notes that "KIWAMI means EXTREME" so expect the same entertainment factor, enhanced battle system, and impressive minigames from the console version. Check out our review for details.

Death end re;Quest - February 19th (PS4)

Death end re;Quest is what happens when you're a developer and you make your game too difficult! It tells the story of online game developer Arata Mizunashi, who finds a colleague/friend is missing in the game world...and that their challenging creation is beginning to alter reality. There is an interesting mechanic where you, as a programmer, can manipulate the game and change genres so it's easier to succeed. Anyone who has enjoyed Neptunia or Mary Skelter's gameplay won't want to miss this one. Look for our review soon!

Steins;Gate Elite - February 19th (PC, PS4, Switch)

An updated version of the 2009 visual novel, Steins;Gate Elite integrates footage from the anime with newly produced animation for unadapted routes to create a new, dynamic story experience. It's an attempt to try something new in the genre with a series that's well-known and well-received. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together! Here's the original review from Leona McCallum to show what this new project is built upon.

Devotion Screenshot

Devotion - February 19th (PC)

Be careful about the vows you make. Red Candle Games is bringing the psychological horror this week with Devotion, an 80s-themed thriller set in Taiwan. Following the history of a small Taiwanese family, it draws a lot from East Asian folk culture and utilizes music from that time and region to create the atmosphere. These developers set out to tell a creepy story centered around the familiarity of home, and we'll be able to see the result on February 19th.

And now, finally, the flying robotic exosuits. We previewed this one very recently, and are eagerly awaiting its launch. It looks like it will be fun to suit up in one of several Javelin suits and work with others to tackle Strongholds (read:dungeons); BioWare also aims to deliver a changing world and many choices as far as character specialization and tasks/quests. Hopefully, it will also be a smooth experience when the game launches Friday.

And that's all she wrote this time around. Have a wonderful week, everyone, and remember to check RPGFan for the latest and greatest RPG coverage. Join us again next week!
