Summertime, fun time.
07.02.18 - 5:07 PM

Summer is finally here, and boy did it sneak up fast. Time for some fun out in the sun or some RPGs. I always say...why not both? Grab your 3DS or Switch, head to the beach, and play some fantastic RPGs. It helps that July is already looking to potentially have one of the best RPGs of the year with Octopath Traveler right in the middle of it. Until the game arrives, however, we can keep you company this week with our preview from Alana Hagues, as well as a review from Rob Rogan, a news story from Peter Triezenberg, and two new RPGFan features.

E3 may be over, but we still have a few more E3 hands-on previews and impressions from the show floor this week, and of course, we have our yearly E3 awards. Which titles did our E3 attendees think were the best games from E3? What stood out to them? And what games should we be looking forward to this year? Those questions and more have been answered within!

Preview by Alana Hagues

July is already shaping up to be a fantastic month if only because of one game appearing halfway through it. Octopath Traveler is looking to be an entertaining game for Switch owners; if you haven't checked out the new demo for yourself, then check out Alana's preview of it. Both are good options, and you can't go wrong with either!

Review by Rob Rogan

Ys VIII is a fantastic game, and one that is worthy of anyone's time even if NISA's localization got off to a controversial start. True to their word, however, they have now released a Switch version of this great game. And wouldn't you know it, we got the review of this version hot out of the review oven. Yes, that's where reviews come from. Yes, it's as awesome as you think it is.

Story by Peter Triezenberg

From now until January, we are sure to be getting more and more info about the game. Even a few weeks after E3, we're getting information about DLC and other little updates on various parts of it. I expect at least 50 different trailers and tons of backstory videos.

We love to write features here at RPGFan. It gives us a chance to express our feelings toward certain games and characters, interview essential people within the RPG world, and generally allows us to let our hair down, so to speak. They are fun to write, and we always look forward to everyone getting to read them. So what are some of the favorite features of all time? Well, you're about to find out!

And that's a wrap for this week. Be sure to check back on the front page for all your RPG news this week!
