Coming This Week, 06/25/18
Let the imaginative spirit flow.
06.25.18 - 7:28 PM

Another week, another bunch of games. We have finally hit the final week of June, and with games like Octopath Traveler coming out next month, it couldn't come any sooner. We have a couple of ports and a couple of visual novels, so let's get into it.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit - PS4, XB1, PC (June 25th)

DONTNOD Entertainment has been doing good work recently with its visual experiences, and its newest one is getting released soon; only two weeks after announcement at E3. Not only do you get to play as an imaginative young boy progressing through childhood, but some of your choices and actions will link to your Life is Strange 2 experience when that drops in September. Best of all, the game is free, and available on digital stores now. Check out our gallery too.

NieR: Automata - Become as Gods Edition - Xbox One (June 26th)

Wow, NieR is coming to Xbox. A while ago, I was pretty against games I like coming to Xbox, but now that I'm older and more mature, I can see that this is a good thing. Xbox owners will be able to enjoy the adventures of 2B and 9S for themselves when this launches tomorrow. If you go looking for fanart though, don't go too deep. You'll thank me later. Check out our gallery for normal screenshots and our review.

Nier Automata

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Switch (June 26th)

It has been a long time since we've seen an Ys game on a Nintendo system. I don't think we've had one since the DS versions of Ys I and II which was published by Atlus. Unfortunately, early copies of the Switch version have shown bugs and dialogue issues, which continue to plague publisher NIS America with controversy over this one game. If they ever do another Ys game, I hope they learn their lesson. There is an update schedule for the game, though, so don't lose hope. And they did fix most of the PC port's issues too. Check out our gallery for the game and stay tuned for our review of the Nintendo Switch version tomorrow, when the game releases.

Ys VIII

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk - PS Vita (June 29th)

Aksys Games, the publisher for the Zero Escape trilogy and various Arc System fighters, won't be publishing those games anymore, as both of those developers, Spike Chunsoft and Arc System Works, have opened their own Western publishing branches. That doesn't mean that Aksys is out though; they have done well in the last few months, especially with their "Summer of Mystery." A three visual novel release schedule for Vita, ending with this game, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk. Multiple stories, choose your ending, and enjoying a love story. Their last two games did well, and this one looks to be the same. It looks beautiful too. Check out our gallery if you don't believe me.

Ashen Hawk

So, that's it from me this week. I would stay and talk more, but I have 300 games to finish before Octopath comes out in two-ish weeks. Just as a reminder, our review of Ys VIII for Switch comes out soon, so look forward to that. As always, RPGFan is here for the greatest of RPG coverage.
