EGX Rezzed 2018: Lamplight City on the Horizon
New Bretagne grows brighter by the day.
05.03.18 - 8:58 PM

Back in November 2016, I previewed Grundislav Games' upcoming Lamplight City, a supernatural detective mystery set in the steamy underbelly of New Bretagne, an analogue to Victorian-era South London. Detectives Miles Fordham and Bill Leger are on stakeout in a flower shoppe that's suffered repeated robberies, where Bill ends up losing his life during a confrontation with a suspect. Wracked by grief and regret, Miles ends up quitting the force...but he's not alone. Bill's consciousness seems to be alive and well within Miles' head, and urges his former partner to hunt down the person responsible for his untimely demise.

Lamplight City's fate was briefly thrown into question last year when it was revealed that Grundislav Games had parted company with publisher Wadjet Eye Games. However, I received an e-mail from German adventure game publisher Application Systems Heidelberg informing me not only would they be releasing the game, but it would also be present at EGX Rezzed 2018. While the demo on display was largely similar to the build I previewed, ASH's Volker Ritzhaupt informed me that the game is nearing completion, with a projected release window of Summer 2018.

Featuring five in-depth mysteries to solve, full voice acting, and very striking pixel art, Lamplight City is one to keep an eye out for later this year.
