Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Level 5 have released a new demo walkthrough for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, highlighting two new snippets of the title itself, known as "The Battle for the Heartlands" and "One Good Turn Deserves Another" respectively. Check out the footage below!

"The Battle for the Heartlands", spanning from 00:00 to 7:25, showcases a real-time strategy mode, in the vein of RTS strategy titles, where Evan, the protagonist of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and his allies engage in terse bouts of combat against bandits. Specific mechanics to this mode can be seen, such as weaknesses and strengths of different unit types, special moves that can decimate foes at Evan's command, and the classic rock/paper/scissor dynamic against enemy types seen in other JRPG's, such as Fire Emblem.

"One Good Turn Deserves Another", spanning from 7:25 to 25:04, lets players in on a different view altogether of the Level 5 developed sequel, painting an adventure of daring rescue and over-world exploration, wherein Evan and his ally Roland must brave a Den of Wyverns in search of another ally: Tani, daughter of a Sky Pirate. This lengthier section of footage confirms over-world loot gathering, allowing players to pick up both currency and crafting materials to utilize within Evan's kingdom. Lastly, players will also be able to switch control between playable party members in the full game, maxing out at four party members in battle at a time, including Evan.

As it stands, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kindgom is shaping up to be an essential JRPG for 2018, and personally, I can't wait to sink some hours when it finally releases stateside.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kindgom launches worldwide on March 23rd for PlayStation 4 and PC.
