Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed once again that the game will support the upcoming PS4 Pro in 4K resolution at launch in a new Dengeki PlayStation interview. The interview also revealed several new bits of info on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Kingdom Hearts III.

Nomura points out an interesting progression in the Kingdom Hearts 1.5, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and 2.8 cover art where the character poses progress from sitting, standing and walking respectively. The Kingdom Hearts III cover will likely continue from the remastered entries' themes.

While Kingdom Hearts III's theme song is still undecided, the game's release is timed perfectly with Utada Hikaru's return to music and the end of her five year hiatus. Hikaru recently acknowledged Kingdom Hearts 2.8 in a tweet opening up the possibility that she may return to sing Kingdom Hearts III's theme song.

New Kingdom Hearts III information will be revealed following the release of 2.8. The Kingdom Hearts series' 15th anniversary is in 2017 and Nomura has plans for it next year. A release of the long awaited III, perhaps?

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is out in Japan on January 12th while the North American and European release is due on January 24th. As usual, stay tuned to RPGFan for more updates.
