Adol Will Rely on the People of Drifting Village in Ys VIII

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is set on the deserted Siren Island, but that does not mean Adol will be alone in his journey. Throughout his adventures he will contribute to the development of Drifting Village by rescuing other castaways, who will in turn help him progress.

Drifting Village begins as an empty cove that provides little in the way of civilized comforts, but as you progress Captain Barbaros and Dogi will build it up with bedrooms and other essentials of daily life. As you find and rescue other castaways on the island, they will lend their unique knowledge and abilities to the community to add new functionality.

In the village Adol can perform a variety of tasks, such as farming, and also converse with the other members of his party. The events that happen on your adventure will change the content of your conversations. The villagers will also assist you to clear debris and open up new paths to explore on the island.

Captain Barbaros' talking parrot Paro will help in this regard as well, telling you when and where new paths are available. Paro learned how to talk from Captain Barbaros and the other inhabitants of Drifting Village, acting as the messenger between Adol and the village.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana comes out in Japan on the PS Vita July 21, and on the PS4 in 2017. No word on a Western release.
