But the game isn't going to die....yet

In 2014 Square Enix released Rise of Mana in Japan, a free-to-play installment to the long standing Mana (or Seiken Densetsu in Japan) RPG series. The game was released on iOS and PlayStation Vita in Japan, but according to Square Enix's website, the title will cease its services in March of this year.

Rise of Mana Still

The apparent reason for the shutdown was the lack of balance between development and capital during its run. Square Enix also admitted that they believed they would be unable to deliver quality content to their Rise of Mana players going forward with the current model.

But will Rise of Mana completely die? Well no, at least not yet. Square Enix is pursuing alternative avenues to release the game. As Square has decided to abandon the free-to-play model, the game may still see a full digital buy-to-play release. Hopefully we will hear more soon.
