Retro Encounter 8-2: Parasite Eve
A T-Rex belongs in every game.
12.25.15 - 1:53 AM

Retro Encounter finishes 2015 by beating Parasite Eve. And what better time to post a podcast about a game set during Christmas than right before Christmas itself? We find the ending to be brilliant but have different opinions on what it actually means. There is drama when Josh threatens to kick Peter off the podcast over a disagreement about a T-Rex. Finally, we finish with a discussion on what a cinematic RPG is today and if games like Until Dawn and Quantic Dream's titles are the spiritual successors to this cinematic focus. Ultimately, we just want to know why there has never been a good Parasite Eve sequel.

Listen as Retro Encounter attempts to find the reason.

Retro Encounter 8-2: Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve closes with an interesting ending that demands we talk about what it means. There is a discussion on the end bosses and which we had the most difficulty with. We debate the value of playing games without guides before we end with questions about why there has never been a good Parasite Eve sequel and if cinematic RPGs are still viable in today's market.
