Game Art - Concept Art and Interview Book Available Now
Featuring plenty of western and Japanese RPGs.
10.16.15 - 8:27 PM

Released just last month, Game Art by Matt Sainsbury features a collection of, you guessed it, concept and game art along with information and an interview to accompany each game. The full-colour 272 page book features games like the Atelier series, Child of Light, Fairy Fencer F, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Final Fantasy XIV and Hyperdimension Neptunia, along with dozens of other non-RPG titles including Dead or Alive and Tengami — 40 games in all.

Unlike many art books, Game Art includes lengthy interviews with the artists and producers behind the games listed above such as Naoki Yoshida (FF XIV) and Yoshito Okamura (Atelier). AAA titles from east and west along with niche indie studios all get time in the spotlight. While many of the artworks will be well-known and familiar to RPG enthusiasts, there're plenty of pieces and games that you may not have seen or heard of before.

As seen on the image below (left), the interviews are an important part of Game Art. Readers will be able to learn about the artistic inspirations for the games, plus how the concepts are brought to life. Game Art literally takes "you on a visual journey through... beautiful worlds, as told by the minds that brought them to life."

Game Art is available in both Ebook ($31.95 US) and printed format ($39.95 US) through No Starch Press. Below is a full list of the games featured and men and women interviewed.
