Eastasiasoft has announced that Rainbow Moon, and its new little sister Rainbow Skies, are headed to PlayStation 4. In a press release, Marcus Pukropski (CEO of SideQuest Studios) stated: "Thanks to the tremendous support and feedback from our fans, we are thrilled to bring our Rainbow RPG series to the PS4." Among its new features, Rainbow Skies will include:

  • Two parallel worlds
  • New combo attacks
  • A new fishing mini game
  • The ability to tame, level, and fight with over 100 monsters
  • A detailed log system that keeps track of every single mission and sub-task

SideQuest Studios claim that the game will run at 60 fps with little to no load times and will support cross-saving to the Vita and PS3. Marcus also posted on the PlayStation blog in regards to changes coming to the port of Rainbow Moon. I'll let them him this one:

Along with enlisting the help of a dedicated story and script writer, the original monologue system from Rainbow Moon has been replaced by a more complex dialogue system. Up to four characters can speak simultaneously which leads to much more lively conversations. We have also implemented numerous new animations, emoticons, and conversation-specific icons that help convey the feelings and moods that our heroes undergo during their journey. Trust me, they'll be very emotional!"

That's not all. According to an official reply in the comments: "The auto map will also get massive updates, including town- and location names, a zoom switch and much more." Hopefully the issue of lengthy level grinding will not be as problematic in Rainbow Skies as it was in its' predecessor.

Rainbow Skies is currently in development and expected to launch in the second half of 2016. Rainbow Moon will also be released sometime in 2016. In the meantime, check out John Tucker's review of Rainbow Skies for a feel of what to expect.

Stay tuned here for any changes or updates to these games!
