Deep Down Still in Development
It apparently takes a long time to go Deep Down.

Deep Down made a huge splash during Sony's press conference to debut the PlayStation 4 in 2013. Unfortunately, not much was seen or heard of the game after that, prompting rumors that Deep Down had been cancelled. Thankfully, Capcom game Producer Yoshinori Ono recently spoke to dissuade these concerns.

"It looks like Deep Down will take just a little longer," explains Ono. "We're thinking about showing something that looks completely different from what previously shown, although it might be a while from now."

Describing the importance of doing it right the first time, Ono states, "When it comes to the service of online games, it's a long-term challenge, so we must make sure to do the necessary parts correctly at the launch of the service, otherwise it'd be a shame to have an amusing game and not have any players stick around."

"The ideas we have for the game is much larger now compared to when we first announced it," Ono concludes. "When looking back at the previous ideas we had for Deep Down, we felt concerns about it not being able to capture an audience as we would've liked, so it was decided to give it more time so that we can further enhance it."

The good news: Deep Down is not cancelled and it looks like the extra time is being used to make a better game. The bad news: we could be waiting a while to see the finished product.

Deep Down is in development for the PlayStation 4; no release date has been announced.
