Final Fantasy Friday Media Part III: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
All the shinies of patch 2.51's Manderville Gold Saucer, and more!
02.21.15 - 2:14 AM

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's three-part Patch 2.5 continues next Tuesday, with the release of Patch 2.51. Knowing the development team's habit of surprise inclusions, there's certain to be more in store, but all we know for certain about the update is that it brings a new tier of quests for the Zodiac weapons, and the long-awaited Manderville Gold Saucer. The fact that you can already see the Gold Saucer faintly in the distance in game only serves to tantalize. This homage to Final Fantasy VII and VIII brings with it an in-depth Chocobo Racing game, complete with chocobo breeding, and FFVIII's famed Triple Triad card game. There's also going to be a multitude of other games and events in the Gold Saucer. Seen here is the newly-revealed in-game promotional poster, complete in Eorzean text:

We also get a good look at some new attire that will be obtainable via Gold Saucer Points, including our first really good look at that Setzer (FFVI) set:

The Gold Saucer itself is pure glitz and glamour (and Cactaurs and Moogles):

And while it doesn't exactly change my opinion that Fenrir deserves more respect in FFXIV, I have to at least concede that the Fenrir mount is kind of awesome:

There's plenty more screen shots in the gallery, so click any image above to view the rest. Again, Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 2.51 releases on February 23rd, with the third and final portion of Patch 2.5 scheduled for March. Look for a review of Patch 2.5 & 2.51 sometime in between!
