Miss the Johto Starters? Grab Them in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Catching them all has become a slightly easier (but still near impossible) task.
02.06.15 - 3:16 PM

Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr will soon make an appearance in Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, originally hailing from the distant land of Johto.

If you're a paying subscriber to Pokémon Bank, you will be able to get your hands on the final evolutions of the starters from Pokémon Gold & Silver. To add them to your ever-expanding roster, all you have to do is log into the Pokémon Bank between February 27th and November 30th this year. Each of these starters has a different special ability.

With Typhlosion you get Flash Fire. This will protect your adorable giant monster from fire-based attacks, as well it's making its own fire attacks 50% more powerful, making grass-types and other fire-types tremble at your feet.

Alternatively, Feraligatr, the water starter, comes with Sheer Force. This one is a bit of a trade-off, as it will make all moves 30% stronger, but will also take away any special effects these moves may sometimes cause. But hey, why put someone to sleep when you can just knock them out?

Finally, Meganium comes with Leaf Guard. This makes sure that it conditions with harsh sunlight hold no sway over your little battling friend. Combine it with Sunny Day, which boosts sunlight when fighting, to tip the scales in your favor.

You can use the Pokémon Bank to transfer these pocket monsters to Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire or Pokémon X & Y, whichever one you might be playing, staring February 27th. A subscription to Pokémon Bank costs an annual fee of $4.99 US.
