During last month's Nintendo Direct, a new Atelier Rorona game was announced for the 3DS. New details on the game were released today including a release date thanks to Famitsu. The game appears to be a remake of the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions, but with chibi-styled graphics. Titled New Atelier Rorona: The Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland the game will feature a new game mode, a revamped battle system, and a adjustable difficulty feature.

The new game mode is unlocked after meeting certain conditions in the game and is called "Atelier Astrid". Atelier Astrid mode allows you to play a younger Astrid Zexis and Sterkenburg "Sterk" Cranach and see how they lived their lives. The new battle system plays out much like a strategy RPG where you see enemies on a top down gird-like field, however, it will be on a more intimate scale. The new elements from the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions remain, but the only costumes to cross over are those the development team felt looked good on chibi characters.

New Atelier Rorona: The Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland releases in Japan on March 26th for the 3DS. A standard version will cost 6,264 yen (~60 USD) while a premium version will be available for 9,504 yen (~90 USD).
