NIS America Downplays Closure Stories Relating to Disgaea 5 Sales
Glad this got cleared up.

Reports earlier this week seemed to indicate that NIS was going to be in trouble if Disgaea 5 failed to find success, but NIS America went on the defensive and stated that all of these rumors stemmed from an incorrectly translated attempt at humor. The original quote from Nippon Ichi president Souhei Niikawa, according to NIS, should have read, "If Disgaea 5 does not sell as planned, I, as the producer, might need to leave the Japanese gaming industry." This bit of self-deprecating humor seems to have been lost in translation.

"This comment was simply self-deprecating humor and in no way did it mean or imply that Nippon Ichi Software as a company is going bankrupt or is in financial difficulties," Niikawa added. "I was merely trying to use humor in order to get the point across that we are committed to selling 150,000 copies of Disgaea 5."

Disgaea 5 is out on March 26th in Japan for Playstation 4. Still no word on a possible US release, but we'll keep you posted!
