Testuya Takahashi, the director of Xenoblade Chronicles X, has shared more information about Takayuki Yanase and Kouichi Mugitani, two of the art designers who are helping him construct his latest sci-fi epic. He tweeted the following about Yanase:

"Mr. Yanase is a well-known designer that has worked on Gundam 00 among other things, the concept for the Dolls in this project was that one single convertible frame be able to transform into several vehicles, so I asked for his help, knowing that he would be able to realize that . If I recall correctly, I asked for his help around the time that Kotobukiya announced its new plastic model 'Frame Arms Series'."

The resemblance between the Frame Arms Models and the Xenoblade Chronicles X designs is apparent, as is the Gundam influence.

With regard to Mugitani, Takahashi alluded to a "certain power" present in the game that only he could design.

"I remember when the project was launched, the first meeting [with Mugitani] took place at a café in Tachikawa," Takahashi said. "With each meeting, he would present extremely detailed designs, and was a great help. And as an important employee for sexy-type battle suits as well. (lol) Look forward to those, too!"

It is assumed the "certain power" refers to a faction in the game, not the "sexy-type battle suits."

Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out in Japan on the Wii U this spring. An international release date has not been announced.
