From Software hinted that Dark Souls II could eventually see a release on the new consoles, but they finally went and made it official last night. Titled Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, the game will feature all of the DLC episodes released along with a new NPC, event scenes and gameplay rebalancing. Check out the trailer below!

Now, here's where things get interesting. The new content (not the DLC episodes, naturally) will arrive via a free update for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and DX9 versions of the game and is scheduled for a February 5th release in Japan. The Playstation 4, Xbox One and DX11 versions will be out on April 7th. The next gen versions will see improved textures, lighting and even an increase to the number of players during multiplayer sessions.
