It's a lot more helpful than the Nook family ever was.

Early on in the upcoming PS3 title, Tales of Xillia 2, Ludgar will quickly find himself in debt to the sum of 20 million gald. He agrees to pay the sum to Redau in exchange for him saving his life. While many games would use something like this as a mere plot device early on, this debt will be key to exploring the world of Tales of Xillia 2. With the help of additional team mates, you'll gradually work off the debt. As you do so, new locations in the world will become accessible. Bandai Namco has stated that this system will be integral to easing players into the world of Tales of Xillia 2.

This is especially note worthy, as all returning characters from the original Tales of Xillia will have their own fully fleshed out story arcs. So far, Bandai Namco has confirmed that these stories can add up to 20 hours of game play, a welcome addition to anyone looking for new content past the standard story.

Tales of Xillia 2 will release on August 19th in North America and on August 22nd in Europe for the PlayStation 3.
