Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Patch 2.2 Dated, Screens, Trailer
You say you want a battle on a big bridge?
03.14.14 - 10:27 AM

Square Enix has been talking up Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's next big patch, Through the Maelstrom lately - and the Letter to the Producer Live is still a week away. Will they still have anything to show us at that point? If it's anything like Patch 2.1, which was pretty massive, there's still plenty.

This morning they released a lengthy trailer giving us a quick (but really, how quick is 8 minutes?) glimpse at a lot of what Patch 2.2 has to offer.

In addition, the patch has its own page on the game's official website, and newer screens are added to our gallery, showing us Halatali Hard Mode, Brayflox's Longstop Hard Mode The City of Amdapor dungeon, and the Second Coil of Bahamut (turns 6-9). You'll also see some familiar faces - if Gilgamesh wasn't enough for you, how about Diabolos?

Producer Naoki Yoshida recently talked about the game's glamour system, which allows players' armour to take on the look of any armour at equal or lower equipment level (via a crafted item), as long as it's equippable by that job or class and both take up the same number of slots. He also advises that players hold onto their relic weapons.

Through The Maelstrom (patch 2.2) goes live on March 27th, while the next LIVE letter airs next Friday morning at 2:30 AM Pacific.
