Namco Bandai have provided some new information on Tales of Zestiria, which is in development for the Playstation 3. This reveal highlights the game's world, history, and even how cultures within the world developed.

We now know a major war takes place on the continent of Greenwood between two factions: the Highland Kingdom and the Lawrence Empire. Everyone suffers as a result of this war, from hunters to artists, and so on. This event lays the ground for Zestiria's world.

Either during this feud or afterwards, civilizations expand and different belief systems develop around the globe. While these expansions invariably cause new cultures to appear, there does remain one commonality amongst the various groups: every system of faith has folklore regarding what is known as "the Heavenly Tribe." These entities cannot be seen or touched, but according to these myths, those of the Heavenly Tribe hold powers beyond imagination that can affect anything and everything in the world. The Heavenly Tribe are respected and feared alike by all of mankind.

Another common element between these cultures in that while no one from the Heavenly Tribe has ever been seen by the average guy or gal, these beings have managed to appear to persons who eventually become influential to the cultures around the world. These select few offered "their pure minds and bodies" to the Heavenly Tribe, obtaining their powers. These people have been viewed as deities of both good and evil. Mankind eventually dubbed these persons "Monks." So these Monks have been "bestowed with the power of God" and are respected like those of the Heavenly Tribe would be. When the world is in crisis, these Monks appear.
