And perhaps he's not just all talk...

It's still a few months until the release of the Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster for PS3 and Vita in the west, but writer Kazushige Nojima has expressed interest in creating a third installment in the story. He said "If demand [for a sequel] is delivered, there could be new developments." He later added, "I, personally, would like to see a sequel such as Final Fantasy X-3." This is, of course, not officially confirmed, though based on Square's development history with Final Fantasy XIII, it's certainly a possibility.

That said, there is some evidence to suggest it is more than just wishful thinking. On the audio drama included with the HD re-release, a continuation to the story is teased. It's in Japanese, but you can listen for yourself here.

We'll keep you updated if new details emerge. Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster will be released on March 18th in North America, and March 21st in Europe.
