Vanille Returns: Paradigm Shifts to Saint in Lightning Returns
Plus, more outfits for Lightning and new details on the "Outerworld service."
10.09.13 - 7:39 PM

It's a weekday, so that means there's new Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII media. Today we have a smidgen of info on the return of Oerba Dia Vanille — or just "Vanille" to her friends. Now living and breathing again, Vanille learns that she is suddenly able to hear the voices of the dead, a talent that has earned her the moniker of the "saint." As such, she resides in the city of Luxerion, under the protective watch of The Order.

We have several new screen shots and some artwork today in which you can see Vanille's ornate new garb. Some are here, with more in our gallery. Also inside are screens of a handful of new outfits for heroine Lightning, and can I just say this? I really want that shield in the third screen shot below. And not just in Lightning Returns, but every RPG in which I can equip a shield.

The other piece of news we learned a little more about is the game's "Outerworld service," which is the name for Lightning Returns' previously-announced social media features. While we lack complete details, this service will allow players to take and share screen shots, messages and battle scores on yet-to-be-specified social networks. That's good news for those of us that, have, say... 347 screen shots of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and like to share their adventures.

As we tell you every 4 days or so, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases on PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 21st in Japan, February 11th in North America, and February 14th in Europe.
