Final Fantasy XV: Less Cutscenes, More Dynamic Gameplay
This game is starting to sound less linear every single day!

According to director Tetsuya Nomura (Kingdom Hearts), Final Fantasy XV will feature less cutscenes and will be replaced with dynamic gameplay segments instead, similar to what Sony's Uncharted series has. One good example of this is, the Leviathan scene shown in the E3 trailer and according to Nomura: "Until now this scene would have been completely pre-rendered into a movie by Visual Works (Square Enix’s film producing team). But now you’ll actually be able to play through it in real-time."

Nomura also mentions that the next-generation hardware is an essential key to making dynamic cutscenes: "Since the beginning of 3D graphics, Final Fantasy has largely used pre-rendered movies, but what’s different about this new hardware is that it allows you to direct what has previously been pre-rendered and make it real-time. For this reason, even in considerably dynamic scenes, the player can still control their character."

Final Fantasy XV (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) does not yet have a release date.
