08.09.13 - 12:33 AM

Square Enix today announced not only the final beta phase - that is, the open beta - for its completely overhauled MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, but also the early access dates. The open beta, accessible to both PC and PlayStation 3 players, will run from August 17th to 19th. Furthermore, if you pre-order the title, you'll gain early access as of August 24th.

In his Letter from the Producer LIVE today, Naoki Yoshida also shared a few more tidbits and incentives: Players will receive various rewards for being 30, 60 and 90-day subscribers - this also means that starting out as a 90-day subscriber, you will get bonuses for all three tiers. An iOS app, Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorza, will also be released the week after the game, and though there are no details as to what exactly the app does, we do know that it is a companion app and it will be free. Finally, those who had registered and played the first iteration of Final Fantasy XIV will be able to play A Realm Reborn for free until September 9th.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn releases on PlayStation 3 ($39.99) and PC ($29.99) on August 27th. The game comes with a free 30-day trial for new accounts; after that, monthly subscriptions cost $12.99 monthly.
