Today, CoroCoro magazine have showcase a surprising new addition to the upcoming 3DS titles Pokémon X & Y. Reportedly, a select few Pokémon will now be able to experience "Mega Evolutions." There's a lot we don't know yet, but we'll run through what we do. To start, here's the scan from the magazine:

Here you can see the Mega Evolutionary forms of Blaziken, Lucario, Absol, Mawile, Mewtwo and Ampharos. This new form of Mewtwo had already been announced, though it was unknown to be a Mega Evolution. So far, we know that MegaMawile has the ability Huge Power, MegaBlaziken has Speed Boost, MegaLucario has Adaptability, MegaAbsol has the ability Magic Bounce, MegaMewtwo has the ability Insomnia and MegaAmpharos is now Electric/Dragon and has the ability Mold Breaker (and looks like the Dragonborn of the Pokémon world).

It's currently unknown how these MegaEvolutions will take place, or if they are temporary or permanent, but a new gym leader called Koruni supposedly has the key to unlocking this new power.

Finally, three new Pokémon have been announced:

The first is the pre-evolution of previously announced Gogoat named Meekuru. The second is the Normal-type rabbit-like critter called Horubii. The third and final is an Electric/Fairy type named Dedenne, who is known as the "Antenna Pokémon."

There will be likely be more news about Mega Evolutions soon, so keep checking back! Pokémon X & Y are due for worldwide release on October 12th.
