SOE's Dragon's Prophet Launching in September
The MMORPG with more dragons than any other. No, really.

It was overshadowed just a tad by that whole EverQuest Next reveal, but Sony Online Entertainment did have other things going on during its SOE Live event.

Namely, the announcement of a release date for their upcoming MMORPG, Dragon's Prophet, officially launching on September 18th. Developed by Runewaker Entertainment, Dragon's Prophet is a free-to-play game, currently in open beta.

Every MMO, if it wants to be competitive, needs a hook - something that sets it apart from everything else. Dragon's Prophet's lure is - surprise! - dragons. Lots of dragons. Hundreds of them, in fact, that you can capture, train, level up, ride, and battle alongside. John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, said this:

"Dragon's Prophet has brought together what every fantasy-MMO player looks for in a new game: intense, action-based combat, a compelling end-game siege system, and
more dragons than any other MMO to play and interact with like never before."

"More dragons" sounds at first like a silly bullet point, but let's face it: It appeals to the kid in us all. Imagine your 8-year-old self being presented with two games. One has dragons, one has more dragons. What are you going to choose? That's what I thought.

Also, here's a trailer featuring some of these dragons in Dragon's Prophet:

We also have a brand-new gallery up for your perusal, so take a look. As I said earlier, Dragon's Prophet is currently in open beta, so if dragons and more dragons sound like your cup of tea, head on over to the official website to take said dragons for a spin.
