Rift Goes Free-to-Play In June
One of the best MMORPGs out there, available to all.

Trion World's first MMORPG, Rift, will be going free-to-play while the world's gaming press is at this year's E3 on June 12, 2013. Players will gain access to, "the entire game world;
every dungeon, every zone, and every level and get full access to all
current and future game updates."

"We have been listening to feedback from our players and watching the
continuously developing MMO community, and are now ready to launch RIFT as
a premium free-to-play experience," said Bill Fisher, Rift's Creative Director. "After taking our time and planning a careful transition; we are
very excited to bring an enhanced game experience to everyone, without
barriers."

As with recent AAA MMORPGs that have gone free-to-play, like Star Wars: The Old Republic, a subscription plan will still be available and players will gain bonuses for their time in Rift thus far. Additionally, the in-game store will see a massive expansion with mounts, boosts, wardrobe items, and other perks.

While we don't have a review of Rift on RPGFan, it's one of my favorite MMORPGs and the one that's garnered most of my time in my post-WoW era. Featuring a significant amount of dynamic content in the form of the eponymous rifts, there's a massive amount of content to explore. Additionally, while Rift's class system appears simple on the surface - only four classes - it is one of the deepest and most customizable in MMORPGs today.

Rift's free-to-play launch will coincide with content update 2.3, Empyreal Assault, containing a new zone and world event, amongst other content. For the full scoop on the Rift free-to-play launch, check out the official website.
