During last weekend's PAX East in Boston, 2K Games announced some new content coming to Gearbox's shoot & loot action RPG, Borderlands 2 next week. First, as part of a $4.99 DLC bundle (or free if you purchased the season pass), the level cap will be raised from 50 to 61. A pearlescent weapon tier will also be introduced - these will be familiar to those who played the first Borderlands, and will be the rarest weapons in BL2.

However, as a free update, Ultimate Vault Hunter's mode is also being added whether you purchase the level cap update or not. Players who have both cleared True Vault Hunter's mode and reached level 50; enemies will be scaled to the highest-leveled player in your party.

Finally, a new playable character, Krieg the Psycho, was revealed.

The new content will available on April 2nd on all platforms. Gearbox says there is one more campaign DLC to be made available, and that will be on its way in June.
