Famitsu had a pretty juicy reveal this week, as Ace Attorney 5 was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. The popular Phoenix Wright will reprise his role as main character, and this time he has a new partner, an as-yet unnamed yellow-clad female who will play an integral role in the story. The events of Ace Attorney 5 will take place a year after the events of Ace Attorney 4, with Phoenix Wright returning to law practice. The game begins with a bang - literally, as its first chapter sees an explosion at the courthouse. Facing charges over the blast is a high schooler, Shinobu, who tends to have spasms randomly. In the courtroom, Phoenix defends her against Winston Payne's brother.

Though there aren't too many to look at yet, we have first screens of the title. Capcom seems to have implemented new gameplay elements as well. It looks as if you might get to choose the facial expression for the 3D characters while giving testimony in court. Gameplay details are still pretty hazy since all we have to go by is the screenshots. Ace Attorney 5's producer is listed as Motohide Eshiro, the scenario director is Takeshi Yamazaki and composer is Noriyuki Iwadare.

Finally, some more good news. Though we never saw Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Miles Edgeworth overseas, Capcom is apparently not hesitating with localizing Ace Attorney 5, as they have already confirmed plans to bring the title out West.

A 15-minute demo will be on display at Tokyo Game Show later this month which will also reveal more about Phoenix's new partner, so we should hear more details soon! For now, be sure to take a look at the first media linked below. Currently, the 3DS title has no given timeframe.
