Pokémon Conquest English Media Added
A little more on how the battles - and warlords - work.

Nintendo of America released more English screenshots and high-res art for its next DS Pokémon title, Pokémon Conquest (Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition in Japan). Developed by Tecmo Koei, the title pairs up Warlords and Pokémon; you'll also need to recruit warriors from up to 17 kingdoms in order to unite the Ransei region in a fight against Nobunaga.

The game's setup is episodic, and you'll unlock more as you progress - each episode has you play as a different warlord, and has its own completion goals/conditions. Warlords each possess their own set of abilities - Oichi, for example, can heal all the Pokémon in the army. Like Pokémon, Warlords also have 'types' which help determine how well they can establish links to different kinds of Pokémon.

Victories over other warlords and their respective Pokémon, and then recruiting them, will increase the size of your army; conquering kingdoms gains you access to their training facilities (for training your little monsters and linking with them), shops and mines. Linking to Pokémon will also increase your chances, as will choosing the proper ones for a fight - or for certain battlefields in general. You can even use the DS' local wireless to fight against friends' armies.
