Star Wars: The Old Republic V. 1.2 Update 'Legacy' Set For April
Lots of content and requested features on the way.
03.05.12 - 6:49 PM

BioWare had previously stated that its MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic's next major update would take place this month, but perhaps that would have been too close to some other title of theirs that releases very soon. Instead, game update version 1.2 titled Legacy, goes live in April.

As the name suggests, we can expect to see a lot of improvements to the game's Legacy system, which you can use to link multiple characters together via a family tree, unlocking and sharing Legacy-specific abilities. Furthermore, this will let payers unlock species from any class in the tree, and on your ship you'll get a mailbox and a Galactic Trade Network terminal.

The new content includes:

  • Flashpoint: Lost Island, a continuation of Kaon Under Siege from update 1.1, taking place on Ord Mantell where you'll investigate a Rakghoul virus outbreak which the Tion hegemony fell victim to;
  • Operation: Explosive Conflict, where teams of 8-16 of either side battle through mercs, droids and other foes for control of the planet Denova and the rare mineral baradium;
  • And Warzone: Novare Coast, a PvP area where the Empire and Republic can either battle each other, or have their own members pitted against each other instead, much like the Huttball warzone.

The update will also bring along some oft-requested features such as warzone rankings, better UI customization, guild banks and new items.

Finally, a 'friends trial' is being introduced: Starting tomorrow, players can invite up to three friends (who do not have an SWTOR account already) to the game, and these friends will get a free seven-day trial and be able to level their character up to level 15 in any of the eight classes.
