New Details for Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
Touch screen controls and networking features.
10.13.11 - 8:23 PM

Thanks to Nippon Ichi and Dengeki magazine we have some new information about the changes to Disgaea 3 in its upcoming port to the PlayStation Vita.

One of the main features the game will be making use of is the touch screen capabilities. You can scroll through windows and menus with a simple slide of your finger or rotate maps by using the read touch panel. Characters will even be able to be moved through touch, but regular button controls will also be usable.

The network and positional information capabilities of the Vita will be implemented too. You'll have access to an "Everyone's Record" mode which lets you check out the stats of other players such as time played, damage dealt, and more. I can only imagine how high some of those play time totals will be.

One of the more unusual features is the ability to acquire points by walking. As you go about your daily business in the real world, you'll rack up points which can you can use to gain experience and mana in the game.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention will be released alongside the PlayStation Vita in Japan, and sometime next year for North America.
