Namco Bandai Announces Heroes Phantasia
That is, a crossover RPG featuring lots of anime.
08.04.11 - 12:26 AM

Namco Bandai, as we all know, loves crossovers. So it's really not surprising that they would announce this PSP RPG. Heroes Phantasia features characters from more than ten different series from the 1990s and 2000s, and will be set in both Japan, and a world named Adroas, which is facing a major threat. And that's where the various anime heroes come into play.

Heroes Phantasia's battles are turn-based, allowing for up to four characters in a party. You'll be able to make characters attack using the face buttons (square, triangle, X and circle) - that is, each button is assigned to a different character. Changing battle formations by using the directional pad means characters will do different attacks when in a different position.

The known anime series whose characters will make an appearance are:

  • s.CRY.ed
  • Darker Than Black: Ryusei no Gemini
  • Darker Than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha
  • Sorcerous Stabber Orphen
  • Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsou)
  • R.O.D Read or Die
  • Slayers Revolution
  • Rune Soldier (Mahou Senshi Riui)
  • Mai Hime
  • Blood+

Heroes Phantasia will also include original characters. The game is being developed by a studio named WitchCraft, who worked on a Mobage social title for Square Enix named Gleipnora, and another PSP game titled Maho Shojo Lyrical Nanoha A'S The Battle of Aces. Currently Heroes Phantasia is 60% complete and should be released in Japan sometime this winter.

Famitsu.com got a first look at the game - the first batch of screens is below.
