Phantasy Star Online 2: New Trailer, Screens
And the alpha test to begin next month.
07.27.11 - 12:57 AM

It's been three months since our last Phantasy Star Online 2, but at least SEGA was generous this time around. Today they shared a new trailer, plenty of screenshots, and an assortment of other details. First, here's the trailer which shows off the gameplay, and a look at the lobby. Yes, you can dance.

SEGA also announced that the alpha test is now planned for next month. Participants have already been chosen, although they did announce that they also plan to demo the title at Tokyo Game Show in September. Neither the beta test nor the full retail release of PSO2 (which, so far, is PC only) have a release date yet.

In terms of gameplay, the title supports up to 12 players in a single game - 4 per team. The gameplay remains action-oriented, adding third-person shooting mechanics, combos, and jumping. The palette system will also make a return, with a few changes. You'll also have three character classes to choose from, which should be familiar to series fans. Hunters, who are great at close combat, Rangers (mid-range combat), and the magic-using Force (long-range). Instead of raising character levels, you will level your class instead - and at higher levels you'll have access to more class-specific skills.

Finally, we've also added 28 new screenshots and two pieces of art to our gallery linked below. Take a look, and stay tuned to RPGFan for more details!
