Tales of Xillia: New Trailer, Costumes, And More
And a few details on the character growth system.
07.08.11 - 1:03 AM

There's just two months to go until the Japanese release of Tales of Xillia, but Namco Bandai's already promoting the game and has even more tie-ins in the works... and still more gameplay details to go over. But first, the trailer that they've been promising us for a week. This one features a lot of characters, gameplay and runs for six and a half minutes.

One aspect of character growth is the Liliale (Re-real?) Orbs, which can be placed in a grid where you'll be able to control your character's growth in different categories: strength, vitality, dexterity, intelligence, spirit and agility. While these are pretty much self-explanitory, strength also increases your chances of a guard break, while vitality helps you resist them. Intelligence increases offensive magic power and your chances of delivering a status attack while Spirit helps you defend against those very two things. Agility is useful for the Artes, while dexterity makes them powerful and determines your chances of landing a critical hit.

The company had mentioned at the game's announcement that J-pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki is singing the game's theme, 'Progress.' You've probably heard it in the background of a couple of Tales of Xillia video clips. Ayu also has a mini-album titled 'Five' due out later this summer that includes the theme song... and its limited edition might be of interest to Tales fans. This edition comes with a code for an Ayu costume for main character Milla, and has a Tales of Xillia-themed illustration jacket according to retailer CDJapan. The mini-album costs 1890 yen ($23.26 US) and releases on August 31st.

We know that the characters will also get DLC costumes based on the Star Driver anime, but there are some Idolmaster 2 DLC costumes on the way too. Elisa, Leia and Milla all get cute pink outfits:
