You may remember Namco x Capcom, the crossover PlayStation 2 strategy RPG developed by Monolith Soft some years ago that featured various characters from well, various Namco and Capcom games. Namco Bandai's at it again, but this time it's just their characters, and is for Japanese iMode cellphones.

Namco Chronicle, also a strategy RPG, was released today in Japan and includes three scenarios: Space, City, and Fantasy volumes. Characters include lots of Namco classics, Gil from Tower of Druaga, Momo from Wonder Momo, and Valkyrie from The Legend of the Valkyrie. The character designer is Kouji Okada (Brave Fencer Musashi), who designed both these, and original characters just for the game.

Namco Bandai promises lots of story in Namco Chronicle, which will have a monthly fee rather than being episodic. Now available for iMode cellphones (model 903i and up), the game will cost 315 yen ($3.69 US) a month. For a look at the game, check out the five screenshots in the gallery below.
