We've got a lot of exciting Level-5 news to share with you. Last year, Level-5 opened an office in California and while many thought they were trying to tap into the overseas market, Level-5's plans for the office were never confirmed - until now. Akihiro Hino verified the plans recently in an interview with Nikkei Trendy, where he confirmed the North American studio is developing its own games.

Hino stated, "Titles that are being planned in the North American office are being developed in that region. The office staff is mostly Japanese, but we're using a style of development where we collaborate with local staff, so I believe we'll be able to make something that matches the North American market well."

He also seemed really optimistic about tapping into the downloadable games market in North America. Hino noted a rise in people with smartphones and home game consoles. Also, he says to anticipate some new announcements for future titles at this year's Level-5 Vision, which is likely to be held in August. Last year Level-5 gave us ten new announcements, but this year they're doubling their efforts and promising wait for it...twenty! Some of these games might have already been alluded to, some will be entirely new, and you can bet that some will be mobile titles.

Wait, it gets better. He's even hopeful that the announcements this year will top last year's excitement over Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney. In addition, he's hinting that Level-5 is teaming up for something powerful along the lines of last year's Studio Ghibli Ni no Kuni titles. Hino is hinting at this being extremely innovative, and he was vague to the point where it might not even be a game!

Keep checking back at RPGFan and we'll bring you more details as they come.
