NGP games, an HD title all in the works and... White Rock Shooter?
02.01.11 - 2:03 AM

Since Imageepoch's press conference last November when they announced a handful of new titles, they've apparently been very busy while we have been keeping up with the latest news (and media) on those titles, including Final Promise Story and Black Rock Shooter: The Game.

Not long after last week's unveiling of the Next Generation Portable, Sony's successor to the PlayStation Portable, Imageepoch's CEO Ryoei Mikage revealed that his company was in fact already working on titles for the system. You may not have seen their name on the already-very-long list of third parties working on titles for the NGP (which includes Idea Factory, Gust, Atlus, Level-5 and Square Enix, among others), but this is only due to them registering so late as a publisher. While Mikage didn't have anything to say about what they had in the works, he did say they'd been anticipating a system much like the NGP for a while.

Also in the works for the company is a high-definition JRPG. The system(s) were not specified, but Mikage suggested that this new title would be out in winter of next year. This also doesn't appear to be the company's previously-announced joint development with SEGA, nor is it the PS3 version of Chevalier Saga Tactics. But this HD title may still be a joint project of some kind, as Mikage made mention on Twitter of meeting with a large company about this game.

Finally, no, White Rock Shooter isn't a new game, for those of you who almost confused Black Rock Shooter: The Game with Pokémon Black & White. She's one of the newest characters introduced, but it seems to be a mystery as to whether she's human, alien, or something else. But she has an interesting character design, one which compliments that of Black Rock Shooter (the main character).

Famitsu did introduce an ally as well: Prototype, who can create clones of alien lifeforms. Without going into detail, the magazine mentioned that Black Rock Shooter uses a fast-paced, real-time battle system.

Black Rock Shooter: The Game will be released on the PlayStation Portable in Japan sometime this summer. Although NIS America and Imageepoch have since announced their partnership, none of these titles have yet to be announced for Western release.
