Final Fantasy Agito XIII Becomes Final Fantasy Type-0
But does a change in name reflect a change in game?

The mystery of Square Enix's trademark filings for the name "Final Fantasy Type-0" has finally been resolved! Today, at the Square Enix First Production Department Premier event, Director Hajime Tabata revealed that Final Fantasy Type-0 is the new title for previously announced PSP title Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Citing the fact that the action-focused RPG had moved away from the Final Fantasy XIII style and setting, Final Fantasy Type-0 will be a spin-off title with no direct relation to the three other Final Fantasy XIII games.

A few more details about Final Fantasy Type-0 were also revealed. Final Fantasy Type-0 will ship in Japan in the summer of 2011, which leaves the door open for a 2011 North American release. The game will be released on two UMDs, with the extra storage being able to house over 30 different character voices.

A new trailer is available for Type-0 as well:

As more information becomes available about the North American and/or European release and gameplay details, we here at RPGFan will be sure to update you.
